How to read “minutes to” — 4 easy steps
- Look at the blue hand. It’s the long one that tells the minutes.
- Is it on the left? Between 7 and 11 means we say “to”.
- Count the minutes left until the blue hand reaches 12. Count in fives: 5, 10, 15…
- Say the NEXT hour. The red hand is almost there!
Fox trick: “To” means “toward” — the next hour is coming!
Try it!
Blue hand on the 10 and red hand nearly at 8? That’s 10 minutes to go → “ten to eight”.
