For parents and teachers

What we collect

We do not ask for names, emails, ages or any account details. There is no sign-up and no login. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The only thing we measure is anonymous visit counts (see "Visitor counts" below).

Visitor counts

We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that we run on our own server, to count how many people visit each page. This helps us see which lessons and games are useful. Umami does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses, does not build a profile of anyone and does not follow anyone from one website to another. It records things like which page was viewed, the type of device and the country. We do not use it to identify or track individual children. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, we respect it and count nothing.

Saved on your device

A few small settings are saved in your own browser (local storage) so the site works the way you left it. They never leave your device and we cannot see them. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

Ads, sponsors and tracking

At the moment there are no adverts and no sponsors, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. In the future we may feature a small, carefully chosen group of education sponsors. If that happens, they will be clearly labelled and we will update this page first. We will not track individual children.

Time zone and clock features

The live clocks use the time on your own device. Nothing about your location is sent to us.

Printing worksheets

Worksheets are made in your browser and printed from your device. We do not receive them.

Hosting and links

Like any website, the company that hosts the site may keep basic technical server logs (such as an IP address) for security. Our pages may link to other sites; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Privacy and the law

tellingtime.io is designed for children, and we built it to collect as little as possible. With no accounts, no personal information and no advertising, it is designed with the spirit of the UK GDPR, the ICO Children's Code, and the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in mind. We do not sell or share personal data, because we do not hold any.

For schools

Teachers and schools can use tellingtime.io freely. There are no student accounts and we hold no student records, so there is no student data to protect or to share. Children can use the site without logging in.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page. Last updated: October 2026.
