Units of time — 3 easy steps
- Learn the ladder: 60 seconds = 1 minute, 60 minutes = 1 hour, 24 hours = 1 day, 7 days = 1 week, 12 months = 1 year.
- Pick the right unit: a blink is seconds, a film is hours, a holiday is days.
- Change units: to a smaller unit, multiply. To a bigger unit, divide.
Fox trick: smaller unit = more of them (multiply). Bigger unit = fewer of them (divide).
Try it!
How many seconds are in 2 minutes? 2 × 60 = 120. How many minutes are in 180 seconds? 180 ÷ 60 = 3.
